The parallel ballots

What will you choose?

Explore recognition across players, teams, coaches, matches, moments and supporter culture. Men’s and women’s football have equal scope, with separate fields and results.

This is a guide to the category framework, not an active ballot.

The voting experience

From shortlist
to published verdict.

The ballot will use your email and region. You will choose from reviewed candidates, without writing nominations or supporting essays.

A meaningful vote

What makes the case?

These are ways to consider football contribution, not a mathematical score or an automated ranking.

Contribution

What changed?

Look at the influence of the performance: a save, a recovery, an opening created or a decision that changed the match.

Consistency

How often?

Consider how the contribution was sustained through the eligible period, beyond a single highlight.

Context

Under what demands?

Understand the position, responsibility, opposition and competition before comparing the numbers.

Understand the methodology

Before you take part

A straightforward ballot.

Is voting open?

No. Voting opens December 1, 2026 and closes April 30, 2027. The candidate field freezes on November 30, 2026. The form below is for ballot announcements, not award selections.

Who can take part?

Fans who meet the edition’s published participation rules will use an email address and region. The ballot will be free. Buying an event ticket or supporting WFA commercially will not add voting weight.

How many choices can I make?

You will be able to choose one candidate in each ordinary category in either or both tracks. The People’s XI uses eleven selections by position. You can skip categories; a started XI must be complete or cleared before submission.

Can I save or change my choices?

Draft selections save on the device where browser storage is available. One email link confirms the submitted categories across both tracks. Before voting closes, secure email access will let you submit replacements.

The latest confirmed choice replaces the earlier confirmed choice in that category. Categories you leave out of a replacement submission keep their previous confirmed selections.

How are duplicate selections handled?

An email can hold one confirmed choice per ordinary category and track. A confirmed replacement updates that choice; it does not add a second vote. Email confirmation checks access to the address, not unique human identity.

Does joining the list count as a vote?

No. Community registration requests updates. Only eligible choices submitted and confirmed through the ballot will enter the count.

What information becomes public?

Results will report category outcomes and aggregate counts. Voter email addresses, individual regions and personal selections are not published. See the privacy policy.

Does a Player File mean someone is nominated?

No. Player Files are editorial coverage of current football and its history. The official 2027 shortlist identifies the candidates eligible for the ballot.
